Traditional Culture
Chinese traditional culture is a national culture reflecting the characteristics and style of the nation. It is brought together by the evolution of Chinese civilization. It is an overall manifestation of various ideological cultures and concepts in the history of the nation. In short, it is the general term for various national civilizations, customs and spirits expressed through different cultural forms.
The most typical form of Chinese culture is traditional literature and traditional art. For example, as the orthodox thought of China’s long-term feudal society, Confucianism’s traditional thinking is more than just educating the public. For instance, the Analects of Confucius reflects the thinking of Confucius, its original intention is to establish a harmonious and orderly state of etiquette. Therefore, the Analects of Confucius also displays the moral ideas and norms. Confucianism is wider than it seems. It also contains the concept of life and values, epistemology and methodology. Its social role is to standardize people’s code of conduct. Some other traditional literature also affects readers a lot including Classic of Poetry, Tang poetry, Four Great Classical Novels and so on.
Chinese traditional art includes Chinese painting, national music, calligraphy and so on. Those artworks show the excellent and superb creative talents of the Chinese nation. At the same time, they also contain the ideological realm and values of the creators. They are the extremely artistic representatives in Chinese traditional culture.

The culture of Taiwan also comes a long way. Taiwanese culture has shown obvious ”pluralism” due to historical reasons. It inherits the culture of the Mainland China to some extent. The ”homology” of Taiwanese culture is self-evident: ”Min culture”, ”Lingnan culture”, ”Wu-Yue culture”, ”Jingchu culture” and ”Central Plains culture” are all based on the ”Huaxia culture” as the main body of the Chinese nation’s regional culture [12].
The culture about communication in both regions is very interesting. Chinese from mainland prefer to use euphemistic and circuitous ways in communication. They like to hear compliments and do not hesitate at all to praise others. In Taiwan, people usually use open and honest ways to communicate in a gentle manner. The way that Chinese and Taiwanese used to greet with each other is very similar. They prefer to shake hands when they meet with each other. They sometimes take a bow on some formal occasions and they wave to the familiar people to greet with each other. Some of the basic terms for daily communication are shown in table 2 below.
